If you need transport to and from Broxburn to the service please speak to Sally North or Jim Borland. Similarly, if you would be happy to give someone a lift, that would be really appreciated so please let them know. You can also contact Carol in the office by emailing her at office@broxburnanduphallparishchurch.org.uk. After the service there will be tea and coffee, and everyone is most welcome to stay and enjoy some fellowship. Items will be gratefully received for the Food Bank and there will be a retiring offering to be donated to Water Aid.

A huge thank you to everyone who helped or supported Saturday 19th afternoon tea in any way. There was a lovely buzz in the hall and everyone had a good time. The total raised for church funds via the ticket sales, raffle and Sunday teas is over £1100 – a fantastic result!!!!

Blythswood Shoebox Appeal
If you’d like to take part in this year’s appeal you’ll find leaflets in both churches. I don’t yet have a confirmed collection date, but it should be the end of October/early November.

The BUSY Project
Well Done Christine Loch Ness Marathon**.**  Thank you to everyone who supported me running the Loch Ness Marathon for The BUSY Project last Sunday. I completed the 26.2 mile course in 4 hours, 28 minutes and 35 seconds.  I am pleased with my time and had a great day out running up the south side of Loch Ness to Inverness. The weather was good for running most of the day and the atmosphere was brilliant. I am delighted to have already raised over £800 for The BUSY Project, but if you still want to give a donation you can at http://www.thebusyproject.org.uk    Christine Turnbull

Foodbank West Lothian
We urgently require the following items: Cold tinned meat, Gluten-free food items, Hand soap, Instant mashed potato, Long-life milk, Nappies – size 6, Nappies – size 7, Tea bags, Tinned custard, Tinned fruit, Tinned potatoes, Tinned vegetables  Collection points are based in Scotmid Uphall (opposite the Open Door), Scotmid Broxburn, Waz’s and Tesco. All donations are very gratefully received.
West Lothian Foodbank thrives due to a team of committed volunteers, some of whom have been involved for at least 10 years.

SOYA
On Wednesday 30th Sovial Work collected a total of 15 bags of foods and  toiletries, with which they were highly delighted.  When asked, the team leader suggested that if we could have the Christmas gifts to them by end November, beginning December this would allow them sufficient time to distribute out to the young folks throughout West Lothian.

HELPS/UKRAINE
On Wednesday Evelyn also delivered 32 heavy sacks of clothes and ladies’ accessories (bags, hats, scarves, shoes, etc) to Edinburgh.  We just missed seeing the smiling face of Pavel from Ukraine as he brought his yellow van to collect our nappies, candles, soaps and toothpastes. I believe his van was so full there was little room for Pavel!
Evelyn has also been sent the latest news from Syria where the Edinburgh Aid work concentrates on trying to provide education for the primary school age children. A new school is desperately needed as the existing school is so overcrowded it teaches in two shifts per day. A new school had been begun beside the existing one, but once only the shell was complete the whole thing was tragically destroyed by bombs. While Edinburgh Aid is unable to provide money for rebuilding they were able to give monetary donations for teaching materials, books, jotters, etc.
Please leave any donations of clothes, nappies, etc in the Open Door, or call Evelyn if you would prefer her to collect.  Evelyn 07546 087230.
