On 24th June the Kirk Session of Broxburn and Uphall Parish Church met with representatives of the Deployment Group to voice their concerns about recent developments. The meeting began with a reading given by the moderator which included the words ‘Let’s direct our energies wisely’ which set a tone for the manner in which the meeting was conducted.
As it has been agreed that a probationer will be serving her final placement at Uphall South Church, concerns were raised about why Deployment were not consulted by Ministries. It was also queried why the actions that we understood Deployment would undertake earlier this year were not carried out. Deployment apologised for the delay which was accepted.
The Kirk Session indicated that they are happy to interact with the probationer once she is in place and look forward to moving forward in a positive manner.
Deployment have said they intend to meet with Uphall South after the summer.
In the meantime, we have permission to proceed with a 0.5 MDS Post (Ministries Development Staff) so work will begin on that later this year.
